The center of GI Oncology is dedicated to the care of all patients with cancer of the gastrointestinal tract. It deals with all kinds of gastrointestinal cancers such as hepatobiliary colorectal, gastroesophageal or pancreatic cancers. It is our special mission to find new and better treatment strategies against these cancer types. Thus, our study and research center is well known for the initiation of or participation in new clinical studies with the AIO or EORTC groups (www.aio-portal.de and www.Eortc.be).

The center of liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma) is specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with this special type of cancer. Since the majority of cases occur in patients with preexisting liver disease special emphasis is placed on  liver function and treatment of liver disease.
Liver cancer is treated in an interdisciplinary approach involving the inventional radiologists and liver surgeons.
Systemic treatment options are based on novel drugs and new agents are tested in a number of clinical trials.
