Transcultural Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic:

In response to the increase in demand for psychiatric care among people with a migration background, we established an outpatient Clinic at the clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy in Mainz University Hospital. This service is specifically aimed at migrants and/or refugees with psychological burdens. Our goal is to offer low-threshold, high quality, client-tailored mental health care services to contribute to meeting the increasing needs in the region.

Target group:

This service is primarily aimed at people with an ethnic-diverse background, which might complicate the process of psychiatric evaluation and care due to linguistic, cultural and or other migration-specific factors.

Dear Patient,

Low mood, sleeping difficulties, nightmares as well as social withdrawal can be symptoms of a mental illness. Mental illnesses are very common especially after exposure to stressful events. Sometimes it is difficult to seek the help of a mental health professional due to several cultural, social or linguistic barriers. We offer a variety of options for detection, diagnosis and management of mental health problems. You may contact us per Email in English, German, Arabic or Farsi and we will put you in touch with a mental health professional who speaks your language. )
