The Sasca Laboratory is newly established at the Department of Hematology, Oncology, and Pneumology at the University Medical Center of the Johannes Gutenberg-University of Mainz.
Using state-of-the-art techniques in epigenetics (ChIPSeq, ATAC-Seq, promoter-based capture Hi-C, RIME-IP), we aim to characterize molecular mechanisms of cistrome reprogramming in normal and malignant hematopoiesis with a special emphasis on hematopoietic transcription factors (hTF). Our final goal is to discover rational strategies for the treatment of specific types of MDS (myelodysplastic Syndromes), MPN (Myeloproliferative Neoplasia) and AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia), while minimally affecting hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells.
