Research Center Immunology
Several of the Department of Internal Medicine III´s physicians and scientists are members of the Research Center Immunology (Forschungszentrum Immunologie, FZI) of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz.
The FZI combines the expertise of scientists proficient in the field of clinically and basic-principle oriented immunological research from the faculties of medicine, biology and chemistry with the objective of developing therapies for the treatment of infections, allergies, autoimmune disorders and tumors based upon a better understanding of immunological principles.
The FZI’s assignments consist in the integration of scientists who are engaged in an interdisciplinary context in immunological research, in advancing international perceptibility and scientific excellence of their research work, in the coordination and support of interdisciplinary projects, in the raising of cooperative third-party funds and in the postgraduate and young academics advancement.
