Welcome to the Website of the Gutenberg COVID-19 Study!

Scientific data is crucially important in the fight against the pandemic - for the whole world, for Germany and for Rhineland-Palatinate. The Gutenberg COVID-19 study is intended to contribute to this by collecting population-based data in the Mainz-Bingen area for the first time. Consequently, this will allow for conclusions about the pandemic situation in Rhineland-Palatinate to become available.

The Gutenberg COVID-19 Study not only investigates the direct effects of a potential SARS-CoV-2 infection and the COVID-19 disease, but also the comprehensive effects of the pandemic and of the measures to fight the pandemic on the health of the population.

The study is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF/REACT-EU), the Ministry of Science and Health of Rhineland-Palatinate, the ReALity Initiative of the Life Sciences of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and the National Research Network of University Medicine.

Results of Study Online

A selection of data from the Gutenberg COVID-19 Study is shown in the dashboard and updated regularly with current data.

Here you can see...

...results from the baseline visits, for example on the SARS-CoV-2 prevalence in the population sample,
...how many people probably want to be vaccinated,
...how the examined participants currently feel in terms of their mental state compared to the time before the pandemic,
...how common COVID-19 specific symptoms are,
...and many more data about the pandemic.

Further comprehensive scientific analyses, such as on the primary endpoint of the study (proportion of positive antibody blood tests in the population), consideration of subgroups and relational associations started after the inclusion of all participants and completion of the baseline visits (April 9, 2021). Results are made available on the dashboard in a timely manner.
