Diagnostics of COVID-19: SARS-CoV-2

The instructions for the diagnosis of COVID-19: SARS-CoV-2 infections in patients (logistics and implementation) (status 04.12.2020) (Pdf-file, 687,2 KB) are described by the diagnostic divisions.
Diagnostics for SARS-CoV-2 are offered in several runs each day to meet the needs of the University Medical Center Mainz and the contractually cooperating hospitals.

The following conditions must be met:

  • meaningful anamnestic and clinical information that indicates a legitimate indication
  • the correctly labeled patient samples from the upper and lower respiratory tract (see leaflet above) are processed in cooperation of the Institute of Virology and the Institute of Medical Microbiology and Hygiene - samples collected after 17:00 hrs please register via the microbiology department (switchboard - medical officer/ AvD
