Temporal dynamics of molecular changes caused by fast-acting antidepressants
David Herzog's research project will investigate the epigenetic mechanisms of the rapid antidepressant effect of ketamine.
Dr. med. David Herzog is an assistant physician at the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the University Medical Center Mainz. He studied human medicine and received his doctorate at the University Medical Center Mainz. In 2015 he received an MD-PhD scholarship from the Mainz Research School of Translational Biomedicine. Since then he is intensively involved in basic psychiatric research. His research interests are genetics and epigenetics of antidepressant pharmacotherapy, ketamine and prediction of therapy response using biomarkers. In addition to clinical and research activities, he has been involved in teaching and training in the field of neurobiology and psychiatric pharmacotherapy for many years.
