Day clinic

In the Day Clinic, neurological diseases are comprehensively clarified within a few days and, if necessary, treated. Here, the close interdisciplinary networking and cooperation with other specialist departments and medical professional groups of the University Medical Center Mainz is an advantage. If necessary, in addition to inpatient admission, outpatient continuation of Day Clinic treatment in the University Medical Center Mainz is also possible.

In the neurological Day Clinic, the following diagnoses are currently being addressed:

  • Clarification of dementias and ataxias
  • Clarification of polyneuropathies
  • Clarification of myasthenia gravis
  • Suspected diagnosis of multiple sclerosiss
  • idiopathic intracranial hypertension
  • Suspected neuroborreliosis

The stay in the Day Clinic is two to three days, depending on the diagnostic requirements. The opening times are Mon.-Fri. from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. In the afternoon, patients go home or to their accommodations. The patient should therefore be sufficiently mobile.

The Day Clinic is not intended for emergencies. If necessary, they treatment will be continued as an inpatient.

If possible, all available preliminary findings (e.g., doctor's letters, MRI findings) should be brought with you to the admission, as well as a current referral slip for inpatient admission from a specialist or family doctor.
