Research Focus

Stefan Bittner is Schilling Professor of Neuroimmunology and Head of the Translational Neuroscience Division with a focus on patients with multiple sclerosis and other neuroimmunological diseases.

His current research interests include the interaction between immune and CNS cells in inflammatory lesions of multiple sclerosis; his group's methods span the full spectrum of neuroimmunology - from ion channel functions to in vivo multiphoton microscopy. In translational research, his focus is on neurofilament and other biomarkers of disease progression, treatment response and side effects in patients.
