WHO is examined

10,250 people between 25-88 years of age. For this purpose, people from the city of Mainz and the Mainz-Bingen district are asked to participate voluntarily. In particular, previous participants of the Gutenberg Health Study (GHS) will be invited.

WHAT is examined

The study collects comprehensive data on the impact of the pandemic on individual physical and mental health. Furthermore, it investigates the actual spread of SARS-CoV-2 ("Corona") and the COVID-19 disease in Rhineland-Palatinate as well as course of disease and risk factors, in case of a positive test for an acute or past infection.

DESIGN of the study

The study is a prospective cohort study based on a representative sample of the population of the Rhine Hesse region.

DURATION of the study

The duration of the Gutenberg COVID-19 study is planned to be from October 2020 to March 2022.
