In accordance with our motto “Our Expertise for Your Health”, our aim is to treat all patients individually, to offer the most modern therapy options, to guarantee the highest technological standards possible and to incorporate the latest scientific findings into our daily practice.

Our Department specializes in the operative and medical treatment of urological tumor diseases, benign prostate enlargement (BPH), urinary tract stones, bladder dysfunction and male and female urinary incontinence. A further focus is reconstructive urology, including, among others, the various forms of incontinent and continent urinary diversion. Minimally invasive operative techniques, such as computer-assisted “da Vinci” technology and other laparoscopic operative techniques (keyhole surgery), are employed in surgical interventions wherever possible. For our younger pediatric urology patients, the complete spectrum of therapies and treatments are available in close cooperation with our colleagues in the Department of Pediatrics. Through these points of focus, the highest degree of skill and competence is guaranteed in every area of our specialty.

As a tertiary care hospital, we are able to offer our patients the highest standards available and the complete spectrum of urological therapy options. Through close cooperation with other Departments of the University Medical Center Mainz, in particular with the surgically focused departments, Nephrology, and the Department of Radiation Oncology and Radiotherapy, the optimal requirements for the highly qualified care necessary for seriously ill patients are available.

The good cooperation between the various Departments is also reflected in the activities of the University Cancer Center Mainz, in which the Department of Urology is significantly involved. In weekly Tumor Boards our patients receive an individually optimized and interdisciplinary coordinated therapy concept.

The International Office of the University Medical Center and our staff are available to answer any questions regarding our outpatient and inpatient services.
