Urology focuses on the male, female and pediatric urinary tract and on the male reproductive system. The organs covered by urology include the kidneys, ureters, urinary bladder, urethra, and the male reproductive organs. Urology combines management of medical (i.e., non-surgical) problems such as urinary infections and surgical problems such as the correction of congenital abnormalities and the surgical management of cancers.
At our Department, we treat approximately 4,500 inpatients and 10,000 ambulant patients each year. Our areas of specialisation include:
Incontinence
Pediatric Urology
Tumor Diseases
Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC)
Andrology
We routinely perform major surgical procedures such as prostate removal, kidney procedures, bladder removal with urinary diversion, kidney transplantation, reconstructive surgery, and incontinence procedures. Innovative organ-sparing tumor treatment modalities are implemented where possible. Our Department is equipped with the most modern da Vinci-System for robot-assisted operations, and the new generation Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL) for treatment of kidney stones.
