Post-COVID syndrome refers to a wide range of long-term health problems that persist for more than three months after a SARS-CoV-2 infection. Symptoms such as persistent fatigue, shortness of breath, and memory problems are diverse and may occur in different combinations. The underlying causes of the syndrome are not yet fully understood, making the development of specific treatments challenging. Currently available treatments therefore focus primarily on alleviating symptoms. The University Medical Center Mainz is conducting the TheraSurv Post-COVID observational study together with stakeholders involved in healthcare provision, including the Ministry of Science and Health of Rhineland-Palatinate and the State Medical Association of Rhineland-Palatinate. The project uses a digital, app-based surveillance system to document the treatment and health outcomes of people with Post-COVID syndrome in Rhineland-Palatinate. An important contribution is made by the participating medical practices at various locations throughout Rhineland-Palatinate, which support the project locally.
