Welcome to the Gutenberg Healthy Ageing Study
Who would not want to remain healthy, independent and satisfied well into old age? As the number of older people in the population continues to increase, it is becoming increasingly important to understand how people can maintain their physical, mental and cognitive health into old age and manage their everyday lives without major limitations. With the Gutenberg Healthy Ageing Study (GHA), we aim to contribute to a better understanding of healthy ageing. The aim of the study is to examine older people from Mainz and the surrounding region in detail in order to learn which factors have contributed to their remaining healthy into old age or being able to manage their everyday lives without major limitations. The study findings may provide important insights that can serve as a basis for the early detection and treatment of preliminary stages of disease, as well as for the development of measures to promote health in the population. The study may help ensure that, in the future, more people are able to participate actively in life while maintaining their physical, cognitive and mental health into old age. Through the Gutenberg Healthy Ageing Study, researchers at the University Medical Center Mainz are making an important contribution to the medicine of tomorrow and to a healthier future.
