Research Interest of the Probst Laboratory
Our lab focuses on the functions of dendritic cells (DC). We are particularly interested in the mechanisms controlling DC function in the immunological ‘steady state’ i.e. in the absence of overt infection and inflammation thus contributing to the maintenance of T cell tolerance and the suppression of autoimmunity. In the framework of the
DFG collaborative research center TR156 we investigate the functional specialization of DC subsets in the skin. We have established several models of viral infections in our lab and another central aspect of our research is the investigation of differentiation and function of cytotoxic T cells in acute and chronic viral infections.
