Research Interest of the Schild Laboratory

In our group we investigate different aspects of the induction and modulation of adaptive immune responses. On the one hand, we are interested in the use and optimization of nanoparticles for the activation of tumor-specific immune responses. On the other hand, we investigate the role of the tissue microenvironment in the modulation of adaptive immune responses. In addition to the effect of various biophysical parameters and metabolites on the function of tissue-resident cells, we are interested in the significance of ageing processes on proteostasis in tissues and organs. Of particular interest are the effects of disruption of proteostasis on the repertoire of peptides presented by MHC molecules. Since these complexes are recognized by T cells, the impact of this interaction on the development and progression of infections and autoimmune diseases will be investigated.
