The Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy is an active member of the Mainz Research Center for Mental Health (MZPG), which bundles research activities in the field of mental disorders at the Psychiatric, Psychosomatic, and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Departments of the University Medical Center and the Institute of Psychology at the University of Mainz.
Our Department is an active member of the Focus Program Translational Neurosciences (FTN) and ReALity - Resilience, Adaptation and Longevity at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz and is also a member of the rhine main neuroscience network (rmn2), a research network between the universities of Mainz, Frankfurt, and Darmstadt and several other research institutions in the Rhine-Main-area.
Researcher from our Department are also an integral part of a new research center founded in 2014, which focuses on resilience as the ability to maintain or quickly regain mental health in the face of stress, the German Resilience Center (Deutsches Resilienz Zentrum, DRZ). In 2019, the German Resilience Center became a member of the extrauniversity Leibniz-Association and since 2020 has been operating under the name Leibniz-Institute for Resilience Research (LIR).

Furthermore, our research is also supported by private foundations. This is particularly the case in the field of dementia research.
