Background and consultation procedure
Patients with cardiovascular disease often suffer also from stress-related symptoms. Typical stress-related symptoms in patients with cardiovascular diseases are, exhaustion, sleep disturbances and depression after a heart attack, anxiety after a defibrillator shock or other problems with coping with a hearth disease.
In the special clinic psychocardiology, an intensive psychotherapeutic diagnosis is made, including psychometric assessments, cognitive-behavioral or psychodynamic, and cooperative development of a mental health treatment plan. Patients should allow up to 2.5 hours for the first appointment. Usually, a further follow-up appointment is offered as a video consultation or face-to-face.
