Consultation procedure

In the special clinic Depersonalization & Derealization, an intensive psychotherapeutic diagnosis is made, including psychometric assessments, cognitive-behavioral or psychodynamic, and cooperative development of a mental health treatment plan. Patients should allow up to 2.5 hours for the first appointment. Usually, a further follow-up appointment is offered as a video consultation.

Inpatient or day-hospital psychosomatic-psychotherapeutic treatment:

Full inpatient (or day hospital) treatment is considered for patients who cannot sufficiently benefit from outpatient treatment. For example, because they are severely impaired so that they can no longer work or study. Other criteria for inpatient treatment are that outpatient treatment is not sufficient to achieve a successful outcome or the need for comprehensive psychodiagnostic assessment. In our treatment ward, there are usually 12-16 patients with severe depersonalization/derealization in treatment, so that patients have the opportunity to have an intensive exchange with other sufferers. In the special consultation or second opinion consultation, an intensive psychotherapeutic diagnosis is made, including psychometric assessment, psychodynamic counselling, and cooperative development of a mental health treatment plan. Patients should allow up to 2.5 hours for the first appointment. Usually, a further follow-up appointment is offered as a video consultation. You can make an appointment for this by calling 06131 17-7381 or by email  Sekretariate-pt@unimedizin-mainz.de. Unfortunately, longer waiting times for an appointment cannot always be avoided.
