Gutenberg Long COVID Study (GLC)

Research Subject

The Gutenberg Long COVID Study (GLC) investigates the late symptoms after a SARS-CoV-2 infection, the so-called "Long COVID Syndrome", and its possible health and socio-economic consequences, with the aim of gaining a deeper understanding. Approximately 600 individuals who had confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection at least six months prior to study inclusion will be studied. Comprehensive physical and psychological examinations will be performed. After a detailed screening examination, participants may be referred for example to the outpatient clinic of the Department of Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy for an in-depth specialist examination for further diagnosis. Some of the participants will be recruited via the population-based Gutenberg COVID-19 Study (GCS), so that extensive preliminary data are available. The other participants are individuals who have been hospitalized at the University Medical Center Mainz due to COVID-19 disease. The project is interdisciplinary, which allows for a systemic medical view of the participants and comprehensive data on possible symptoms and diseases can be evaluated. This study will support the development of a diagnosis and therapy regarding the Long COVID Syndrome.

Duration: December 2022 bis September 2023
