Access to the Biobank for Liquid and Cellular Biomaterials is described in the Terms of Use.
Any researcher at the University Medical Center Mainz may submit an application to conduct a biobanking project. Provided that the requirements for access to the Biobank for Liquid and Cellular Biomaterials are met, an individual offer will be prepared based on the application.
The Liquid Biobank of the University Medical Center Mainz is operated on a non-profit basis. An individual offer tailored to the partner's specific storage requirements will be prepared based on the available range of services. Costs depend on the planned biobanking concept as well as the quantity and type of samples.
The use of data and biomaterials generally requires approval from the management of the respective biobanking project. Applications for the use of data and/or samples must be submitted to the Use and Access Advisory Committee (UAAC) of the Mainz Liquid Biobank.

Data Protection
The data protection concept of the Mainz Biobank places the highest priority on protecting patients' personal rights. Personally identifiable data, clinical data, laboratory analysis data, study data, and sample management data are stored in separate database systems and managed by different responsible parties. All personal data are pseudonymized using a study identification number, while biomaterials are assigned an anonymous laboratory ID and linked exclusively to this study ID. When donating and storing biomaterials and during subsequent research diagnostics, patients are protected by the principle of voluntary, informed consent and are provided with comprehensive information by their treating researchers and through information brochures. All biobanking projects conducted by the Biobank of the University Medical Center Mainz have been reviewed and approved by the Ethics Committee of Rhineland-Palatinate.
