The University Biobank for Liquid and Cellular Biomaterials

The Biobank for Liquid and Cellular Biomaterials is managed by the Department of Preventive Medicine at the Center for Cardiology, University Medical Center Mainz. The department's organizational structures provide options ranging from monitored biomaterial storage to supported and anonymized biodata banking within the framework of clinical studies.
These requirements are met through the support of the biobanking team and the use of modern IT infrastructures with user-friendly interfaces for sample management. The use of 2D coding, scanning, and rack systems as components of the university biobank enables the unique identification and management of large numbers of samples.

In addition to monitored storage, our trained study laboratory is able to extract specific biomaterials such as DNA and RNA from human samples and assess their quality.
