Welcome to the CVSS Study
CVSS is an observational study investigating the risk of cardiovascular disease following cancer during childhood or adolescence. The aim of the study is to gain a better understanding of the frequency, causes and long-term development of cardiovascular disease in people who had cancer during childhood or adolescence. The study benefits from close interdisciplinary collaboration between various centres and institutes at the University Medical Center Mainz and is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). As part of the study, approximately 2,000 people who were treated for cancer during childhood or adolescence between 1980 and 1990 at the University Medical Center Mainz or surrounding hospitals are invited to participate. Potential participants are identified and contacted through the German Childhood Cancer Registry. Those interested in participating are subsequently invited to the study centre for a comprehensive assessment. The study visit includes a detailed medical examination with a particular focus on the cardiovascular system.
