The interdisciplinary research approach is also reflected in the organizational structure of the Gutenberg Health Study. The Steering Committee, as the highest governing body, is supported in the implementation of the project by the Executive Committee and the study coordinator. Other bodies include the Scientific Advisory Board and the Advisory Board for Ethics, Data Protection, and Data Security. The Gutenberg Health Study is conducted as an interdisciplinary research consortium by the Center for Cardiology in collaboration with other central institutions.
The Steering Committee discusses all fundamental issues related to the study. It decides on the composition of the Executive Committee and on the expansion of the research consortium. The Steering Committee is composed of representatives from Mainz University Medical Center. It meets at least once a year.
The directors of the institutions that make up the research consortium form the Executive Committe of the Gutenberg Health Study. The Executive Committee is responsible for the strategic management of the study. It coordinates the scientific projects within the study and is responsible for budget management and public relations. The Executive Committee meets once a month.
The coordinating principal investigator is responsible for the operational management of the study. He implements the guidelines set by the study management and is entrusted with the direct organization and conduct of the study, as well as with the management of the study site.

The role of the Advisory Board for Ethics, Data Protection, and Data Security is to provide expert support to the Steering Committee and Management Committee on all matters related to ethics, data protection, and data security within the project.
This includes providing expert advice and, where necessary, developing recommendations, as well as reviewing the implementation and application of current recommendations and regulations.
The Advisory Board meets regularly once a year and as needed.
