We have invited two experts who will give keynote lectures:

•  Nicholas Latimer (https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/smph/nicholas-latimer) is professor of health economics. His research interests focus on economic evaluation methodology, with a particular emphasis on the incorporation of survival analysis within economic models. He is especially interested in the use of causal inference methods to estimate comparative effectiveness in clinical trials confounded by treatment switching, and in observational data.
• Noemi Kreif (https://www.york.ac.uk/che/staff/research/noemi-kreif/) is senior research fellow. Her research is centred around causal impact evaluation of health interventions and policies. She enjoys incorporating methodological innovations from statistics, causal inference and machine learning to provide robust answers to policy-relevant research questions.

Beyond invited keynote lectures, we welcome contributions of participants to the above-mentioned topics. We encourage younger colleagues to present and discuss their work in progress. The four working groups “Statistical Methods in Medicine” (IBS-DR), “Statistical Methods in Epidemiology” (IBS-DR, DGEpi, DGSMP), “Statistical Methods in Clinical Research” (GMDS) and “Epidemiological Methods” (GMDS, DGEpi, DGSMP) have cooperated since 2011 in the organization of workshops, further training events in statistics and methodology, and scientific statements. In 2019, these four working groups were joined by the cross-sectional initiative “Causal Inference” (DGEpi), whose speaker Uwe Siebert is also head of the working group “Medical Decision Making” (GMDS).
