Am 18.01.2012 konnten erste Zwischenergebnisse vorgestellt werden (Veranstaltungsort: Akademie der Wissenschaften und der Literatur in Mainz). Diese haben belegt, dass die medizinische Betreuung von Patienten mit oraler Antikoagulation durch einen spezialisierten telemedizinischen Gerinnungsdienst zu einer deutlichen Verbesserung der Versorgungsqualität im Vergleich zur etablierten Versorgung führt. Als Parameter für die Qualität der Antikoagulation wurde die Zeitdauer der Einstellung des laborchemischen Zielparameters INR im therapeutischen Bereich herangezogen. Diese Verbesserung war durchgehend über alle Patientengruppen zu verzeichnen: Sowohl bei schlecht einstellbaren Patienten mit schwankender INR (z.B. auf Grund Multimorbidität oder mangelnder Compliance), als auch bei Patienten mit stabiler Einstellung sowie bei Patienten, die ein Selbstmanagement der Antikoagulation durchführen, lag ein signifikanter Unterschied vor. Dies führt zu einer Verbesserung der Lebensqualität der Patienten und einer Reduktion von Komplikationen (insbesondere Schlaganfall, Blutung und Krankenhauseinweisungen). Berechnungen basierend auf den in der Literatur vorliegenden Daten prognostizieren eine Kosteneinsparung in der medizinischen Versorgung. Dennoch ist eine Umsetzung des Versorgungskonzeptes in die klinische Praxis eine Herausforderung, da es gilt, etablierte Behandlungsstrukturen anzupassen bzw. zu verändern.
