Below you will find all upcoming events, such as talks, transferable skills courses, or lab courses.
All listed events carry a number of TransMed credit points corresponding to the time of attendance. 0.1 TransMed credit point is equivalent to 45 minutes of attendance.
Dr. Evan Newell is Principal Investigator at the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) and the Singapore Immunology Network (SIgN) in Singapore. After receiving his PhD in at the Department of Physiology at the University of Toronto, Dr. Newell continued as a Post-Doc at the renowned Stanford University in California, where he worked on the structural and biophysical basis for T cell receptor antigen recognition and phenotypic profiling of antigen specific T cells at the Department of Microbiology and Immunology in the lab of Dr. Mark Davis. He now leads a research lab with the focus to apply and develop new methods that take advantage of single-cell mass spectrometry (a.k.a., mass cytometry or Cytometry by Time-Of-Flight, CyTOF) for the identification and characterization of antigen specific T cells. He intends to use that information to identify novel correlates of clinical outcomes for a variety of diseases.
About SIgN: SIgN was launched on February 2006 by A*STAR to build up research mass and coordinate basic, translational and clinical research needed to establish immunology as a core capability in Singapore. SIgN focuses on studying immune responses in disease-specific contexts to build up a strong platform in basic human immunology research for better translation into clinical applications. Researchers at SIgN investigate immunity during infections and inflammatory conditions, including cancer, using both mouse models and human tissues.
