Gewebe-Biobank

Die Gewebe-Biobank der Universitätsmedizin Mainz sammelt, charakterisiert und archiviert Gewebe und Gewebeextrakte in höchster Qualität. Frischgewebe wird bei -80° C asserviert. Darüber hinaus stellt die Biobank verschiedene Technik-Plattformen zur Aufarbeitung und Analysierung von Geweben zur Verfügung. Unter anderem können in-situ Analysen am Gewebe durchgeführt werden (Histochemie, Immunhistochemie, In-situ-Hybridisierung), DNA- und/oder RNA aus Zellen oder Geweben extrahiert werden oder FFPE-Gewebe als Tissue-Micro-Array aufgearbeitet werden.

Die Gewebebank unterstützt biomedizinische, wissenschaftliche Projekte der Kliniken der Universitätsmedizin der Johannes Gutenberg-Universität sowie deren angegliederten Institute, der Fakultäten der Johannes Gutenberg-Universität und deren angegliederten Forschungsinstitute sowie andere akademische Einrichtungen (Krankenhäuser, Universitäten), die zur Gewebebank beitragen. Über die Gewebenutzung entscheidet ein interdisziplinär zusammengesetztes Nutzungsgremium, welches  sich aus Vertretern der Universitätsmedizin, dem Leiter des UCT, dem Direktor des Institutes für Pathologie sowie aus dem Leiter der Gewebe-Biobank zusammensetzt.
