Prof. Dr. Ellen I. Closs forscht auf dem Gebiet biochemische und Zellpharmakologie, mit Focus auf:  

• Transporter kationischer Aminosäuren und biochemische Stoffwechsel- und Signalwege, in die diese Aminosäuren involviert sind (z.B. Synthese von NO, Harnstoff, Polyaminen Kreatin, mTOR-Weg, Translationskontrolle).
