Interventional Cardiology

The Center for Cardiology is the leading cardiology center in Rhineland-Palatinate and the Rhine-Main metropolitan region. Our clinic has 135 beds on 7 units, 70 of which are monitored beds. This includes an intensive care unit with 20 monitored beds, a chest pain unit with 10 and an atrial fibrillation unit with 4 monitored beds. The clinic also has the organizational responsibility for the Medical Emergency Room.

Our clinic focuses on the treatment of patients with acute coronary syndrome and chronic cardiovascular diseases. This also includes interventional heart valve therapies such as the TAVI (transcatheter aortic valve implantation) procedure, mitral valve reconstruction, treatment of the mitral and tricuspid valve using a cardiac band, and the diagnosis and interventional treatment of peripheral arterial occlusive disease.

In the field of rhythmology and interventional electrophysiology, ablation (atrophy) of seizure-like and persistent atrial fibrillation and severe ventricular tachycardia are among the therapeutic options.

Through the Mainzer Herz Foundation we optimize research, training of our employees and patient care at our center. Since prevention is best started at a young age, we educate around 1,000 school kids from all over Rhineland-Palatinate about the dangers of smoking and teach them about healthy nutrition and resuscitation measures as part of the foundation project "Children's Health Academy". Another focus of the foundation is research of the impacts of noise and fine dust on health.
