Ophthalmology

Eyesight is irreplaceable. For most people, sight is the most important of our five senses. It is no wonder: Our daily life depends on our ability to read and recognize colors and to perceive our environment.
Some eye diseases we notice on our own and in the early stages due to blurred and distorted vision, but others like glaucoma unfortunately are not noticeable until the advanced stages. This is why prevention from the age of 40 is so important, as the diseases can be treated very well in the early stages.
Ophthalmological prevention includes a vision test, examination of the entire eye, determination of the intraocular pressure as well as other mostly computer-based examinations such as optical coherence tomography, a kind of MRI of the eye. In cases of defective vision such as myopia, cardiovascular diseases or diabetes mellitus, we recommend checking the retina. In case of a family history of certain diseases, it is recommended to specifically scan for glaucoma diseases, macular degeneration or preliminary stages of retinal detachment and expand the examination spectrum accordingly. Especially in the case of cataracts, the clouding of the lens, a significant amount of quality of life can be regained with the help of modern outpatient treatment methods.
