Questions concerning appointment booking

Who is the offer suitable for?

The services offered by UCPM are aimed at adult men and women of all ages from Germany or abroad, with or without known preexisting conditions. The services are aimed at private patients, self-paying customers or beneficiaries of company health programs.

What are the benefits of a preventive examination at UCPM in Mainz?

For individuals without preexisting conditions, early detection can prevent the onset of disease and support quality of life and health maintenance. For those with preexisting conditions, modification of risk factors can prevent recurrence of events or long term deterioration of health conditions.

At ucpm in Mainz, all services are offered at the highest international level and with the greatest possible economy of time thanks to closely coordinated processes. In addition, we offer all necessary services and organizational support according to your needs.

Which information and documents are required to make an appointment?

Generally, your personal data and - if available - previous medical data and existing medical reports in German or English are required in advance. Furthermore, we ask you to fill out a questionnaire. Good advance information enables us to tailor the planning of the examinations to your needs in the best possible way. In addition, we need information about the sponsor.

Travel planning and preparation of the appointment

How do I get there from Frankfurt Airport?

You can book a shuttle or taxi from Frankfurt International Airport - the travel time to Mainz University Medical Center is about 35 minutes with regular traffic. Furthermore, it is possible to travel by train. More information about the location and directions can be found here.

What will accommodation be like?

In Mainz and in the greater Rhine-Main area, a variety of accommodation options in hotels and apartments are available according to your needs. We will be happy to provide you with some helpful addresses and tips.

What do I need to bring with me on the day of the examination?

Please always bring with you to the examination: Copies of your medical reports, a current medication plan, eye drops (if you take them regularly) and visual aids (if existing), comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes (e.g. for stress echocardiography).

Procedure and completion of the preventive examination

What is the health examination procedure?

Prior to your appointment, you will receive a detailed schedule in written form in German or English. The examinations are closely timed and can therefore be performed with as little time investment as possible for you.

Do I need to arrive fasting for the examination day?

Generally, it is necessary that you do not consume any food or caloric beverages the morning of examination days on which blood samples are taken or an ultrasound examination of the abdominal cavity or a colonoscopy and/or gastroscopy will be performed. Along with the schedule you will receive detailed information on which days you have to arrive fasting and if you are also not allowed to have anything to drink.

Will there be a gastronomic offer?

We will offer you a snack for your lunch break and we will provide plenty of beverages.

Prices and Billing

How much does the Complete Check-Up program cost? Will I receive a cost estimate?

The costs for the comprehensive check-up program for a man start at about XXXX Euro and for a woman at XXXX Euro. For individual planning of the services and costs, we need some information from you and will then be happy to send you a customized offer.

How is the health examination billed?

The services are billed on the basis of the German Medical Fee Schedule (GOÄ); the individual services are summarized in an overview so that the service recipients or the respective sponsors receive them in compact and clear form. 

When and how is the invoice issued?

Self-paying patients will receive their invoice overview with all individual bills upon completion. If a declaration of cost coverage has been accepted, the invoice overview with individual invoices can be sent directly to the sponsor.

When and how is payment made? Is an upfront payment required?

For self-paying patients, we request an upfront payment according to the cost estimate prior to the beginning of treatment. The costs will be settled immediately after completion of the treatment and any overpayment will be refunded immediately. If services have not yet been billed in full, for example in case of pending laboratory findings or imaging, reimbursement will be made as promptly as possible within 14 days.

Does health insurance cover the costs?

We recommend that you contact your private health insurance company in advance. Generally, statutory health insurances do not cover the preventive services of ucpm. If you still wish to make use of the services, you can do so as a self-payer.

Can cost commitments from insurance companies or embassies be accepted without upfront payment?

In individual cases we accept a cost commitment without charging an upfront payment. Please contact us directly so that we can check this.
