to the website of the Institute for Medical Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Informatics (IMBEI). Scientific progress is only achievable with appropriate methods. Therefore our main objective is to support medical research with our competence in various methodological areas. We work closely together with the other departments of the University Medical Centre Mainz.
The main focus of the Biostatistics/Bioinformatics Division includes consultations on the planning and evaluation of clinical studies and analysis tools for high-dimensional data.
The Epidemiology Divisions conduct population-based observational studies in the areas of radiation epidemiology, health care research and paediatric epidemiology
The main emphases of the Informatics Division are data protection, electronic data transmission and hospital information systems.
The Documentation Division takes on tasks concerning data management and data collection.
Also located at IMBEI is the German Childhood Cancer Registry.
At the IMBEI, we work in an interdisciplinary team of about 100 dedicated employees that take on various research and teaching tasks. As a facility of the University Medical Centre, the IMBEI is involved in the methodological training of medical students. In addition, the IMBEI offers a post-graduate and consecutive Master of Science in Epidemiology (MSE) programme.
Sincerely,
Prof. Dr. Konstantin Strauch
