Arbeitsgruppe ‚Dermatological and Computational Immunology Laboratory‘

Wir nutzen modernste Technologien und Analysemethoden, um die Heterogenität von Hautkrankheiten auf Einzelzell-Ebene zu entschlüsseln.

Im Zentrum unserer Forschung stehen myeloide Immunzellen und ihre Untergruppen, die maßgeblich an der Entstehung und dem Verlauf von Hauterkrankungen beteiligt sind. Zu Beginn einer Entzündung steuern diese Zellen richtungsweisende Immunkaskaden sowie T- und B-Zell-Antworten, die den Krankheitsverlauf maßgeblich beeinflussen. Im weiteren Verlauf besitzen sie zudem das Potenzial, andere Hautzellen (sogenannte „Bystander-Zellen“) in ihrer normalen Funktion zu beeinflussen und dadurch eine Kettenreaktion auszulösen.

Um neue Therapieoptionen für diese seltenen, aber hochpotenten Zelltypen zu entwickeln, arbeiten wir mit einer Vielzahl von Zellkulturmodellen, Mausmodellen und Patientenproben. Unser Ziel ist es, die Aktivierung und Interaktion myeloider Zellen in entzündlichen Hauterkrankungen, in Hautkrebs sowie im Alter besser zu verstehen.

Unsere Technologien teilen wir gerne mit Kooperationspartnern. Wir bieten zur Zeit Kooperationen im Bereich High-Dimensional Spectral Flow Cytometry, Nanostring und der Einzel-Zell Analyse an.
