Molecular Tumor Board: Translating Biology into Therapy
The idea of adapting cancer therapy to the specific molecular features of a tumor is changing the way we treat cancer, especially advanced cancer. Such features are discussed in a dedicated board (Molecular Tumor Board, MTB), in which experts from different fields (such as bioinformatics, molecular oncology, and molecular biology) work together with clinicians to select the best therapy for individual patients.
Learning goals:
- Workflow of a MTB
- The druggable Genome
- Selection of a personalised therapy based on molecular aberrations
During the course, the participants will learn and practice various tools for analyzing and evaluating molecular aberrations. At the end of the workshop, the participants should be able to calculate a personalised therapy by themselves. The students can also participate later to a Molecular Tumor Board of the UCT Mainz (in German, every Monday at 3 pm, online).
