Beyond Research: Career in Management Consulting

Objective:
This workshop aims to provide participants with an insightful overview of the management consultant job profile. It will demonstrate the value of scientists in the consulting industry and offer practical exposure through a real-life case study for a pharma company. Participants will gain insights into market analysis, strategy development, and implementation roadmaps.


Topics:

  • Explore the life of a consultant
  • Engage in a real-life case study supporting a pharma company, covering: Market environment analysis / Strategy development / Definition of an implementation roadmap (translating strategy into action)
  • Discover various opportunities to enter the consulting industry


Methodology:
Through this workshop, participants will be introduced to the consultant job profile. Working in small groups, they will tackle a case study based on an actual consulting project, with guidance from experienced consultants. The results from each group will be presented, followed by valuable feedback from both peers and consultants.


Target Audience:
This workshop caters to PhD candidates and post-docs seeking a career shift towards management and business topics beyond their academic expertise. Participants should possess a willingness to embrace new environments and perspectives.


Maximum Number of Participants:
To ensure an effective interactive experience, the workshop will accommodate a maximum of 20 participants.


Preparation:
Participants do not need to prepare anything in advance, but they should come ready to explore diverse thought processes.
