MentalStrategies - Keep calm during your doctorate


In this online workshop series, you will learn how to meet the demands of your doctoral studies but still stay in balance. The course provides you with key techniques in stress and time management and helps you to acquire a mindset that promotes relaxation and mental balance. You will also practice hands-on tools to reduce stress and nervousness. The course is in cooperation with “Techniker Krankenkasse” and has been specially tailored to meet the needs of doctoral students.

Topics:

  • Session #1: Stress & its effects

    Understanding stress, personal stress, stress model, resources

  • Session #2: Protect yourself from stress

    Communicate with confidence, set limits, accept support, address conflicts confidently, values & goals

  • Session #3: It’s all in the mind

    Goals for the training, stress as a result of how we assess it, stress-intensifying thoughts, “defusing strategies”, inner drivers & positive affirmations

  • Session #4: Manage stress successfully
    Time management and self-organization, my time thieves, set priorities, personal performance curve and balance of energy / energy levels
  • Session #5: My doctoral journey

    Self-motivation, how to boost motivation, strong and positive during the doctorate, balance & enjoyment

Target audience:
Doctoral candidates who want to reduce their overall stress level, improve their time management and acquire useful techniques to maintain their mental balance.

Maximum number of participants: 12

Methodology:
Trainer presentation, individual training in writing and reflection, group work, practical exercises, feedback, experience-based-learning, recommended homework

Preparation:
Individual preparation is not necessary for this workshop series. Recommended homework will be assigned during individual workshop sessions.

>> All 5 sessions are an integral part of the workshop series. Each session must be attended to gain a participation certificate including 2.5 TransMed CPs for transferable skills.

Technology:
GoTo Meeting (web-based software provided by the training company mindyourlife). Please check that your PC meets the requirements beforehand (microphone, camera, Internet connection).

To ensure a high level of interactivity during the course: Please make sure beforehand that you can activate your camera and that you have a workplace with privacy during the course for that you can talk about sensitive issues!
