Advanced Clinician Scientist (ACS) Program for Immunology, Vascular Immunology, Tumor Immunology and Neuroimmunology 

ACTIVATE is a Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) - funded Advanced Clinician Scientist program, with the goal to create an independent and collaborative integrative work environment for Advanced Clinician Scientists (ACS), free from traditional hierarchical constraints. The program is intended to serve as a central hub for innovation that advances targeted diagnostic and therapeutic approaches in immunology while simultaneously initiating a structural transformation in the health strategy of the University Medical Center Mainz.

The ACS trained under this program are intended to create a new, integrative care structure—such as specialized outpatient clinics, interdisciplinary case conferences, coordinated biosampling, and improved patient data management. These translational structures directly link cutting-edge research with clinical care. They are intended not only to bridge the gap between science and patient care in a sustainable manner, but also to continue beyond the BMFTR funding phase in order to ensure long-term progress in immunotherapy and targeted treatment of diseases that have thus far been difficult to treat effectively.
